🌸 Happy in Honolulu & Marvelous Maui, Hawaii 🌺
Updated: Nov 6
... many-a-time have I flown ✈️ over these Hawaiian islands as I've criss-crossed Asia since I was 16!
I can still picture them in n my mind: seeing them like little pebbles floating on the ocean. But now, finally seeing these islands first-hand & face to face - I am confronted by their modern Americanism yet I'm still able to find their true Polynesia heart - the REAL Hawa’ii!
🌺 ALOHA! 🌸 muchachos...
Honolulu 🌸 was REALLY fascinating, Starbucks’es and McD’s everywhere alongside giant Barnes
& Noble bookstores and Cheesecake factories galore all juxtaposed amongst Jade Green mountains and surrender by vivid blue waters...
Walking towards Waiki beach reminds me of heaven … way better than the photos and yes, still touristy! Flavours of Rio de Janeiro but without its famous sugarloaf mountain - still impressive and imposing, long beautiful beaches surrounded by 5 star resorts and capped by a huge wall of mountains - this Diamond head:

The sunset was spectacular- enveloping everything in a warm orange embrace and filling my heart with peacefulness: Hawai is beautiful Indeed!

Maui 🌺 Enchanted Isle of Hawaii:

Driving up and circling up the emerald green mountains of Maui (our goal was to enjoy its specta views) swirling around and around like moving a spatula around a cake mix - thick consistency with the sweet scent of vanilla: and finally getting to the summit and enjoying the vista from atop the volcanoes was magical indeed. 😀
Nestled in the heart of the Pacific Ocean, Maui, one of Hawaii's most alluring islands, is a symphony of nature's finest melodies. Its dramatic landscapes, pristine beaches, and vibrant culture create a unique tapestry of experiences. As I touched down on the island, I was immediately enveloped in the aloha spirit and the stunning beauty of Maui.
The Road to Hana: A Journey Through Paradise

One of the most iconic adventures on Maui is the drive along the Hana Highway. This serpentine road meanders through lush rainforests, past cascading waterfalls, and along dramatic coastal cliffs. The journey is as enchanting as the destination, and as I navigated the winding road, I was mesmerized by the abundance of natural beauty.
Numerous stops along the way beckoned exploration. Twin Falls, with its picturesque waterfalls and freshwater pools, provided a refreshing break from the drive. The Garden of Eden Arboretum and Botanical Garden, nestled amidst the rainforest, is a treasure trove of exotic plants and vibrant flowers. The Waikamoi Nature Trail offered a glimpse into Maui's diverse ecosystems and a chance to spot rare bird species.
At last, I reached Hana, a quiet town where time seems to slow down. Hana's charm lies in its simplicity and serenity. The Hana Bay Beach Park, with its calm waters and black sand beach, invites you to relax and unwind. A visit to the Hasegawa General Store, a historic establishment dating back to 1910, provides a peek into local life and culture.
Haleakalā National Park: Sunrise on the Crater's Edge

Haleakalā, the dormant volcano that forms the eastern part of Maui, is a majestic destination. To experience its true magic, I set my alarm for the early hours and embarked on a predawn journey to witness the sunrise from the summit. As the sun's first rays pierced the horizon, the barren landscape transformed into a palette of colors. The moment was nothing short of breathtaking.
Exploring Haleakalā during the day is equally rewarding. Hiking trails offer opportunities to delve deeper into the unique volcanic terrain. The Sliding Sands Trail leads you into the heart of the crater, where you can walk among cinder cones and otherworldly rock formations.
Maui's Pristine Beaches: Sun, Sand, and Surf
Maui boasts some of the world's most beautiful beaches. Makena Beach State Park, also known as "Big Beach," is a vast expanse of golden sand with waves that cater to both swimmers and surfers. Nearby, "Little Beach" is a clothing-optional spot and a gathering place for fire dancers during full moon celebrations.
Kaanapali Beach, with its luxury resorts and water activities, is a popular destination for those seeking both relaxation and adventure. Snorkeling and swimming with sea turtles in the crystal-clear waters are must-try experiences.
Whale Watching: Majestic Marine Encounters
Maui is also famous for its whale-watching opportunities. Between November and April, humpback whales migrate to the warm waters of Hawaii to give birth and nurse their young. A boat tour off the coast of Maui provides an up-close and personal encounter with these majestic creatures. Witnessing a breach or tail slap from a massive humpback is a memory that stays with you forever.
Iao Valley State Park: A Verdant Oasis
Iao Valley State Park, a lush and emerald paradise, is a short drive from Kahului. The Iao Needle, a natural rock formation that pierces the sky, is the park's centerpiece. Trails and bridges provide scenic views of the valley, and it's a place where you can feel a deep connection to Maui's natural beauty.
Maui's Culinary Delights: A Fusion of Flavors

Maui's culinary scene is a fusion of flavors. Local delicacies like poke (marinated raw fish) and plate lunches are a must-try. The island's abundant farms produce fresh, tropical fruits like pineapple and passionfruit that can be enjoyed in local dishes. Dining by the ocean with the sound of the waves as your soundtrack is an experience that encapsulates the island's charm.
Maui, Hawaii, is a destination that enchants the senses and soothes the soul. Its natural beauty, cultural richness, and the spirit of aloha are woven into every experience. It's a place where you can hike to the edge of a volcanic crater, surf in the morning and stargaze at night, and where every sunrise brings a new promise of adventure. Maui is an island that leaves an indelible mark, beckoning you to return and explore
