… to the top of the world above the Arctic Circle, past Honningsvag, Norway! 🇳🇴

Updated: May 14, 2022

Vamos a llegar hacia Honningsvag 🇳🇴 - passing the Arctic circle:

Where we will see the northern lights … traveling on the SAME ship which I was on for a 25 crossing the Atlantic from Rio 🇧🇷 de Janeiro: the MSC Preziosa! 🚢⚓️⭕️

(efectivamente muchachas… y es mi última trayectoria de este viaje)!🌍

🚢 to the top of the world above the Arctic Circle in Honningsvag, Norway! 🇳🇴

There’s no where to go but down from here. Things get strange up above the arctic circle. In the summer, for weeks, the sun never sets. In the winter, it doesn’t rise. Reindeer and Santa are real here and you can meet them. The Earth ends here, dropping off into the water over precipitous cliffs that make you really appreciate how brave the Vikings were to have sailed out beyond these cliffs.

Honningsvåg and Nordkapp,

the North Cape, are fascinating, out of the way destinations. Nearby Alta compliments Honningsvåg with a stable climate with very good Northern Lights chances. There are also a lot of snowmobile and dogsledding options, as a well as an igloo hotel! 👍🏻

MAINLAND EUROPE'S NORTHERNMOST POINT, OFFERING STUNNING CLIFFTOP VIEWS 🇳🇴

As mainland Europe’s northernmost point at the latitude of 71° north, North Cape (Nordkapp) offers breathtaking scenery, along with sightings of sea birds and possibly orcas. Rising to a magnificent 308 metres above the Barents Sea, it used to be a vital orientation point for sailors but is now better known for its spectacular natural beauty and for its large “globe” monument on the cliff.

North Cape is accessible from the small town of Honningsvåg, one of the ports of call on Hurtigruten’s Norwegian Coastal Voyage. Shore excursions to the cape are popular all year round and include a visit to the North Cape Hall (Nordkapphallen), which includes multi-media exhibits about the area’s nature and history as well as a gift shop and café.

Watch out for Polar Bears 🐻‍❄️ too! Or take a Four-wheel-drive truck adventure to see these magnificent animals face-to-face!
